Faurecia will receive two key awards at this year’s German Automotive Brand Contest (ABC).

Its lightweight concept “Less is More”, introduced at the 2014 Paris Motor Show, won in the category “Concepts” while the Faurecia-engineered automatic rear-seat folding system, on board the new Renault Espace, won in the category “Parts & Accessories“.

The Faurecia Less is More lightweight concept includes structural and semi-structural parts, especially in composites, an exhaust heat recovery system as well as a lightweight seat using an innovative architecture offering up to three centimeters more knee-room for rear passengers.

The Faurecia innovative automatic rear-seat folding system for the Renault Espace crossover can be used to fold down any seat in the second and third rows using a control unit in the trunk or using the multi-functional display on the instrument panel. The result is an ideal blend of three areas of expertise that are central to Faurecia innovation: complete seat system design; mechanisms and dedicated power solutions; seat electronics and related control systems.

With these two new awards, Faurecia carries on its first success of last year at the Automotive Brand Contest when it was honored as the first automotive supplier ever in the category “Concepts“, for its interior study Performance 2.0. The 2015 awards will be handed over during the official ABC award ceremony on September 15, 2015 in Frankfurt-am-Main (Germany), concurrently with the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA 2015).

“We are working consequently on innovations setting standards with regards to safety, comfort, sustainability and lightweight. We are much honored that our work and our efforts gain recognition in this way and would like to thank the jury for these new awards”, said Thilo Ludewig, Managing Director of Faurecia Autositze GmbH and Head of R&D at Faurecia Automotive Seating.

The Automotive Brand Contest is the first international brand and design contest for the automotive industry. With this competition, the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung) rewards outstanding performance in the fields of brand leadership, brand communication and design in the automotive business.

In 2015, Faurecia already won three industry awards, among others:

  • the Automotive News “2015 L.E.A.D.E.R. award”;
  • the “Concept Interior Innovation of the Year” award at Automotive Interiors Expo 2015; and
  • the “2015 AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award” as “Most Innovative Supplier 2015” in the category “Interior”.
